Eduardo Arenas Catalán is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Jurisprudence, Constitutional and Administrative Law at Utrecht University and a researcher at the Montaigne Center for Judicial Administration and Conflict Resolution. He holds a research masters from Utrecht University (cum laude) and a bachelors of law from Universidad Católica del Norte in Chile, a country where he is entitled to practice law. He has held teaching and research positions in both Chile and the Netherlands.
Eduardo’s main interests are social justice, development and health from the perspective of human rights law. Currently, besides his PhD position (‘Solidarity: the right to health in the era of healthcare commercialization’), he lectures International Human Rights at the Utrecht University College (UCU). In addition to that he chairs the PhD Council of the Netherlands School of Human Rights Research.
